The Tiara Q 44 Day Yacht Is Built for Fun and Adventure

The new Tiara Q 44 adventure yacht—based on the 44 Coupe hull, which is 44 feet long—is like an SUV on the water, serving equally well in fishing, day boating, entertaining, and diving roles. It even has a bike rack on its roof and a storage area for a surfboard, a kayak, or a wakeboard, along with a full-beam swim platform for quick access to the water.

“We’re seeing a lot of people day boating these days,” says Tom Slikkers, Tiara’s president. “Our clients want their boats for many things. They want more open space to bring many friends along. Outdoor entertaining and socializing were first and foremost in mind when we engineered this new Day Yacht.”

The Q 44’s two social areas, one in the cockpit and the other in the bow, provide ample seating and easy, fluid movement, thanks to large walkways. An island-style outdoor galley, which leaves extra space for the cabin, also doubles as the social heart of the yacht, with easy access to either end. The boat has two electrically actuated sliding doors to seal the bow if the surf is high—a nice touch from a builder that takes ocean-running seriously. The boat will be powered by a Volvo Penta’s IPS system, featuring joystick controls and a glass cockpit. It is expected to have a cruising speed of about 21 knots, and a top speed of about 30 knots. A straight drive system will be launched at a later date.

Belowdecks is a cabin with a queen-size berth, a head, and a pantry-style galley with basic cooking facilities that include a microwave, a refrigerator, and a coffeemaker. Tiara has always been masterful with interiors, and the Q 44—with hardwoods, architectural finishes, and modern fabrics—promises to showcase the builder’s abilities yet again. But the thing that really sets Tiara’s boats apart from their peers is their robust construction—the yachts tend to be overbuilt, so owners have no fear of heading offshore into waters that other boats would not dare to tread.
